Why does my reality check fail when my dream logic is already screaming absurdity?
I’ve been practicing MILD for months, and I finally reached a point where my dreams are vivid enough that the environment should be a giveaway. Last night, I was literally walking through a library where the books were breathing and the ceiling was made of shifting sand. I even did my reality check—pinched my nose and tried to breathe—but my dream-self just casually accepted that I was breathing through a pinched nose and went back to organizing the shifting dunes. It is honestly frustrating how my brain rationalizes the impossible while I'm deep in REM. Is there a more reliable way to trigger lucidity when your subconscious is determined to gaslight you into believing everything is normal? I feel like I'm getting so close, but the dream logic just patches the holes in my awareness every time. Does anyone else struggle with this ‘blind spot’ effect where you see the signs but just shrug them off like they're totally mundane?
